Here are some pics of my recent project
click on pix for a larger one

plenum.jpg (74512 bytes) I got a hold of a spare intake to play
around with, thankfully it was
in better shape than mine.
upper_manifold.jpg (81553 bytes) wire brushing to remove years of gunk
stage_1.jpg (96029 bytes) plenum and lower intake
cleaned, ready for the real work
about 2 hrs
stage_2.jpg (112893 bytes) Started with 40 grit worked my way up to 80
used every tool I could find, dremel, drill
hand tools, alot of elbow grease
then on to 120 and finally 220 grit
about 8 hrs
intake_polishing_assembly1.jpg (128248 bytes) you can go up to 600 grit, but I stopped when
it looked pretty good to me, then I got some
buffing wheels and compound, and spent
more time polishing, which was alot quicker
than the whole sanding
process
about 4hrs
intake_polishing_assembly5.jpg (124715 bytes) another shot, I removed the secondary
throttle valves and did more cleaning
of the throttle body and the bac valve
intake_polished.jpg (174974 bytes) couldn't wait to see it in the car.
now to do some motor cleaning
engine_red1.jpg (171992 bytes) if you got alot of spare time
you're motor can look like this too.
engine_red2.jpg (180481 bytes) I'd say about 5 hrs of cleaning and painting
engine_red3.jpg (150290 bytes) Wow, it really does make a huge diffrence
makes alot of other parts look dirty, hehe
wpe1.jpg (70687 bytes) More pix to come soon
